Ford

Along with the Dodge Brothers, Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Company in 1903. Although the company was officially established in 1903, Ford had been building vehicles prior to the formation of the infamous company the bore his name.  The first vehicles manufactured by Ford were named using letters; the model A was the first.

The model T was introduced in 1904, and became an integral part of American automobile history. By the year 1910, Ford Motor Company had expanded overseas to countries such as England, Germany, France and Austria.  During World War I, Ford was responsible for producing many of the vehicles used by military forces.

Ford was determined to enter the luxury cars market and was able to do so in 1922 by acquiring Lincoln Motor Company.  In 1947, Henry Ford passed away.  By this time, his company was a world class vehicle manufacturer.  It is rumored that over seven million attended his funeral.  During the next two decades, the manufacturer came out with several famous models.  The Thunderbird was introduced in 1955 and the infamous Mustang in 1964.

In 1979, Ford bought one fourth of Mazda and in 1987 purchased Aston Martin.  Ford also acquired three other companies in the three years following; Jaguar, Volvo and Land Rover.  Currently, Ford is continuing research to create more innovative and fuel efficient vehicles for the consumer.  As time progresses, you can expect to see nothing but great things from this legendary company.
